BGSI Organizes Session at the 2017 World Science Forum in Jordan

November 10, 2017

Berkeley Global Science Institute, together with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, organized a session, "Emerging Scholars: Establishing the Cycle of Innovation", at the 2017 World Science Forum. The session was opened by keynote speeches by Prof. Omar Yaghi and Dr. Pavel Kabat and featured a panel of emerging scholars, who highlighted global science activities, introduced research and scientific outreach programs, presented capacity building case studies, and detailed accomplishments achieved by plugging into mentorship programs. The panel of emerging scholars included Dr. Felipe Gandara (ICMM-CSIC, Spain), Dr. Alejandro Fracaroli (UNC, Argentina), Dr. Bassem M. Al-Maythalony (KFUPM, Saudi Arabia), An Ha Truong (VAST, Vietnam), Karen Umansky (TAU, Israel), and Nemi Chetanbhai (Pitt, USA).

The session was a great success and laid the foundation for demonstrating how providing global mentorship leads to opportunities in scientific research, which benefits emerging scholars, countries, and even regions as a whole.

The World Science Forum is an international conference series on global science policy with the 2017 theme being "Science for Peace." For more information about the World Science Forum, please visit the forum's website.
